🚀 FastAPI and friends newsletter: new tools, versions, and courses!

Issue #2, ORM with admin, deploy with HTTPS, new spaCy with Typer, new Jina with FastAPI, courses, talks, and more...

FastAPI and Friends - the official newsletter

Hey! 👋

There are several new releases of tools using FastAPI and Typer… and also several talks and courses. 🚀

Let’s check all that! 🤓

@tiangolo (Sebastián Ramírez)

✨ Piccolo ORM with admin UI

Check out Piccolo, a new ORM that includes an admin UI, made to be easily integrated with FastAPI! 🎉

If you are building an app that just needs a simple admin user interface to modify data in the database, this might be a good match.

📺 Deploy FastAPI (and other) apps with HTTPS, powered by Traefik

I (@tiangolo) will be giving this free online talk/tutorial showing you how to deploy any web app with HTTPS using Traefik.

I’ll also show you how to add password protection with Basic Auth to any other web app, including examples with Streamlit and Panel (with Bokeh visualizations and Pandas DataFrames). 🔒

Register here, it’s free. 🎁

🔖 spaCy version 3 released!

spaCy, the natural language processing library, just reached version 3.

The new version includes several features and improvements, including that the CLI is now built with Typer and there’s a new FastAPI app generator for spaCy projects. 🚀

✨ Run a small FastAPI app from Google Colab with ColabCode

With this clever trick, using ColabCode, you can create a simple, temporary, FastAPI app executed in Google Colab that can be accessed publicly using Ngrok.

It’s a clever trick that can be quite useful for small demos without having to deploy anything. 💡

📝 Made with ML courses

Check out the new courses by Made with ML, with tips and tricks to apply Machine Learning to production by an AI researcher at Apple.

They include how to build command line apps for ML with Typer, and how to build web APIs for ML with FastAPI. 🤖

✨ Jina version 1.0!

Jina, the search engine powered by FastAPI and lots of deep learning just reached version 1.0. 🎉

They support search in images, audio, text… 🤯

🗣 CLI apps with Typer at PyCon Belarus

This year PyCon Belarus is going to be remote and free. 🎁

And I (@tiangolo) will be giving a talk about CLI apps with Typer: type annotations and shell completion. This is the first time I’m giving a Typer-specific talk. 😄

You can register on the PyCon By website.
